What a great day in preschool!
Look how hard our friends worked this morning to sign in and estimate how many cars were in the estimation jar!
Our friends are learning how to create, navigate, and maintain friendships! This is one of the goals of early childhood education!
Will made a flag for his block structure. Great meaningful writing Will!
Yay!!! Praise God for the beautiful weather!!
During morning meeting we played a game that increases our critical thinking. I drew a picture of a very big bunny. However, the door to his house was very small. The children brainstormed ideas of how the bunny could get into his house. Here are some of the great solutions that we came up with:
"He could break down the small door and make a bigger door."
"He could hide behind his house."
"He could go around to the back to the big back door."
During small group time the friends played a big and small game on the SMARTboard. One friend drew a picture of something big, and the next friend drew a picture of something small. This activity promotes comparative language as well as fine motor control.
We also started a new collection of our favorite words! We will add words that we read in books or other words that we learn to this wall. This will help to increase our vocabulary. Research shows that children with a large vocabulary perform better in school. The children helped me write the label for our new collection as well as some of the words for the favorite words wall.
We also made a welcome sign for Grandparent's Day!
We then practiced our tournament!
During second free choice, we discovered many new things about the blocks. We discovered that a tower of single blocks is not steady. We worked together to brainstorm ways to make the block towers more steady. We tried our ideas too! The children are learning and discovering as they attempt to build various towers!
Some friends created in the writing and art centers!
We love books on CDs!!
During Jesus time we learned the story of Jesus riding in to Jerusalem as found in Matthew 21:1-11. We learned that Jesus is our King of kings. He is the Lord of heaven and earth, who has saved us from our sin!!
