Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Half Birthday Bella!!

Our friends were so creative with the stacking blocks today!

Jacob made a bubble blower!

Bella made a camera!

Sammie showed God's love and helped Avery put on one of our dramatic play dresses!

Bella led us in our alphabet today!

We enjoyed the beautiful weather together outside!

We then came in and watched a Charlie Brown Christmas! As Linus was reading the bible story, one of our friends said, "Hey!  That's just like we learned!"

We discussed how just like we learned in the movie, Christmas is more than presents and Santa, it is about the birth of our Savior- Jesus!

Happy Thursday!

Just a reminder that tomorrow school will end at 12:00. There is no after care tomorrow. Although there is no school lunch program, we will still eat lunch in preschool.  Please be sure to pack your child a sack lunch for tomorrow.

Avery, Violet, Sammie, and Brynne worked hard to decorate the stable this morning.  They first threw Jesus a birthday party with the decorations, then each friend in the class had a turn to be the guest of honor.

Bryson, Jacob, and Megan worked on creating a city with the blocks.

Hunter strengthened his spatial relationship skills as he worked hard on a puzzle.

Brian, Bryson, and Megan independently reviewed the letters together!

Brian and Jack made a LEGO car and took turns rolling it back and forth to each other.

Jacob noticed how the counting bears scoot down the ramp he built! He tested the ramp and different heights to see how it would affect the bear.  He is learning valuable science concepts!

Brynne worked with Jacob to sort the bears by color.  They then mixed up the bears and sorted them into "Mommies and babies" (small and big).  Sorting is a foundational math skill!

We began small group time playing a "What's missing?" game. This game is important because it allows the children to exercise their memory skills.  Memory games can help children master techniques for organizing and storing information that will be of benefit for years to come. (Math and Reading Help, 2013)

We then played the game during small group time with Mrs. Mudd.

The children then worked to order the blocks smallest to tallest. Ordering is a foundational math skill!

Devereux, Brian, and Megan ordered themselves too!

The children then each practiced their writing skills in the writing center.

The children worked with me on a dice game.  We rolled two dice and decided which dice had more.  We discussed how we would make them equal (take some away, add some dots, etc).  This game helps children quantify, practice recognizing more, less, and equal, and introduces subtraction and addition concepts.

Whoo hoo!  We were able to go outside today!

During Jesus time we followed the star just like the Wise Men followed the star to Jesus.

We ended our walk at the stable where we bowed down and sang praise songs to Jesus.  We are thankful that Jesus was born on Christmas so that He could die and rise again on Easter.  Because of His death and resurrection, we have eternal life with Him!

Happy Party Day!

Don't forget that Friday is half day.  There is no after care or school lunch program on Friday.  However, we will still eat lunch in preschool so please be sure to pack your child a sack lunch.  Thanks!

Claire worked on her writing skills this morning as she made a card for her sister!

Joey and Jacob worked on creating ramps.

Violet, Bella, and Alma acted out the Christmas story.

Wow!  We had some AMAZING helpers at our party!  A special thanks to all of our many helpers!  We are so thankful for your help!

We started the party eating some Who-pudding (vanilla yogurt with green food coloring) and veggie straws.  We then read the story How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

We decorated waffle cones to make a Christmas tree!

We made a birthday card for baby Jesus.

We also played some fun games!

After the party we had some free play time in the classroom.  During free play we explore and create friendships, practice resolving conflicts with friends, and have fun!

We read this book during Jesus time.  It told the story of the Wise Men following the star to see Jesus!  We are thankful that Jesus was born on Christmas! He died on the cross and rose again on Easter to save us from our sins!
