The friends who wanted to adopt a dog each signed their names on the sign in sheet this morning.  :)

We then took care of our dogs!

We are so thankful for the beautiful spring weather!!

We are SO excited that Noah the comfort dog was able to visit today!  The friends learned so much about the comfort dog ministry!  Look for a display board soon with all of the questions we asked and the answers we received!

Sue, Noah's primary caregiver, showed us some of the commands that they use with Noah.

This command is especially for people in a wheelchair. It is called visit.

We loved petting Noah!

Thank you to Mrs. Dersch and Mrs. Raithel who were able to come for Noah's visit too!

Noah stayed for some of our free choice time too!

Checking out our family dog wall together

Many friends worked hard to write notes for their families and friends!

Saying good-bye to Noah

The friends then decided to do a comfort dog show!

Signing in for the show- a great way to practice writing skills in a meaningful way!

Megan incorporated writing into her play as she drew pictures of the show!

Kiera made yummy cookies!  She was kind enough to write down the recipe for me.  :)

Brynne tested Mrs. Buchholz to see if she could be a comfort dog trainer or not.  (We learned that even the primary caregivers for the comfort dogs have to go to a special school!)

Many friends made labels for each other using the first letter of their friends' names.  This is an excellent way to practice sound of the letters in a meaningful way!

During morning meeting yesterday many of the friends noticed that the tree outside of our classroom has started to bud!  We decided to document the changes of the tree through observational drawings.  Every few weeks we will observe, draw, and compare the pictures of the tree to observe its' changes.

During small group time, we did an observational drawing of the tree.

We also began/continued to work on  Easter lilies by tracing our hands and cutting out the traced drawings.  This not only helps to strengthen our fine motor skills, but also helps us remember that Jesus is not dead- He is alive!

You will notice that our friends helped each other in this activity.  They did this independently! They are learning collaboration!

We drew a picture of our favorite part of Noah's visit too! We dictated why we liked Noah visiting and asked any remaining questions we had.

We then went back outside to enjoy more of the beautiful day!

During Jesus time we read the Easter story.  We remembered that the Easter bunny, candy, and toys are all fun parts of Easter, but the best part of Easter is Jesus rising from the dead! Because of His death and resurrection, we can live forever with Him!
