Happy Friday!

Our morning free choice time is a time for the children to not only have fun and play, but also learn through their play.  In preschool we use play as a means to learn!

This morning many of the friends worked to write a label with their dogs' names for their dogs' picture!

As the children play with the rocks and water they are exploring the properties of water as well as comparing the size, shape, and colors of the rocks.

As the children take care of the dogs they are learning responsibility and cooperation as they share the dogs and items.

Creating in the blocks expands children's spatial reasoning and geometric thinking.  It also provides an opportunity to engage in problem solving and develop persistence.

Painting strengthens fine motor skills as well as helps children explore color and creativity.

During small group time the friends painted together on the easel.

They also finished making our adopt a dog videos on the iPad.  Don't forget that you can check out the videos that we created by following the directions on the display outside of our classroom!  Once the videos were created, the friends had a lot of fun watching themselves on the screen!

We also played a fun game where the children chose a letter to show a friend on the other side of a blanket.  When I raised the blanket each friend identified the letter that their friend was holding.  This is a fun way to practice letter recognition.

During second free choice the children who wanted to adopt a dog signed in on the sheet.  We discussed that when you adopt a real dog you have to sign papers, so we must sign papers for our dogs too.

More rock exploration

Many friends chose to paint again.

During Jesus time we read a book entitled Easter is for Me.  We learned that Jesus died and rose again because He loves us! Through His death and resurrection we have salvation from our sins! We then sang a song by Angela Naeve called God is Not Dead.
