Victoria worked hard to make different designs with the bears this morning.  She made a cross for Jesus too!

Bryson and Avery followed a design that they had previously made for a structure to re-create a similar one together.  They are learning to create and follow plans!

Zack, Joey, and Hunter worked together to create in the LEGOs.  They worked to resolve their conflicts in a positive way!

Many friends chose to create together too!

We then went to chapel!  (Whoops!  I forgot the iPod in the classroom during chapel.)  Mr. Hanson, our Director of Christian Education here at Zion, led our chapel this morning.  He shared with us that cookie monster has a problem, just one cookie is never enough.  He always wants more!  However, Jesus tells us to not worry because God will provide what we need.  Unlike cookie monster, we don't need to want more because our Father in heaven will always take care of us!

During morning meeting we watched a video advertising various dogs available for adoption.  We discussed making our dog center into a dog adoption center!  The children were very excited about creating a dog adoption center.

During small group time the children were able to use a lot of technology.  In one group, they used the iPod to take pictures of their dogs. They then made signs that said, "Adopt a Dog."  We will use these pictures and signs as advertisements for the dogs available for adoption in our classroom.

Here are the pictures of our dogs that the children took:

We then used the iPads to make videos about each dog describing why he/she should be adopted.  The children are not only using technology, but they are also developing and expanding their expressive language.  The friends are also learning how to work in a team.

We then had fun creating with wet chalk!

During second free choice, we worked to make a check-in area for the adopt a dog center.  This area is a great way for children to engage in meaningful writing practice!

Victoria and Riley made money for the adopt a dog center.

We then set up all of the dog houses so that people can see the dogs available for adoption.

Some friends worked together in the blocks.  They discussed that they wanted to make their structure sturdy and safe.  They worked together to problem solve how to fix their structure when it fell over.  They are not only learning problem solving skills, but they are also practice persistence!
