Today we thank God for Delaney!

Happy Birthday Delaney!

This morning many of the friends worked together to sort the items in our sensory table.  They are learning as they sort!  They are sorting, which is a foundational math skill.  They are also comparing sizes.

One of the friends said:  "We are throwing away all of the small pieces.  Not that one- it's a big piece."

They are also counting!  "I am going to pick up thirty pieces."
Me: "Let's be sure there are thirty by counting them!"

Working cooperatively in the puzzles

Playing puppies

Building in the blocks

Praise God for such a beautiful day!

During small group time we practiced counting, one to one correspondence, and quantifying as we played a roll and jump game.  (Look at how high our friends can jump!  My goodness!  I could not jump that high even when I am not pregnant! :) )

We also used magnetic letters to make words!  This activity promotes letter recognition and letter sound correlation.  Some of the friends wanted to write the words that they made in their journals!

We also made a collaborative cross canvas!  We discussed that the cross reminds us that Jesus died on the cross and rose again!  Jesus loves us!

During second free choice some of the friends worked together in the blocks to create a race track.  They practiced communicating to each other their visions/ desires for the structure.  They are learning valuable communication and social skills.

Some of the friends created their own quiet place to read.

Sammie worked hard to copy the drawing from the tissue box!

Will made a label for his firetruck.  He used the word FIRE on our alphabet to make the label!  He is engaging in meaningful writing and he is problem solving!

During Jesus time we learned the story of the woman anointing Jesus' head and feet as found in Matthew 26:6-13.  We learned that she anointed Jesus to honor Him.  We can honor Jesus too because He died and rose again to save us from our sins!
