Grandparent's Day is Thursday, March 12 from 9:30-11:30.  Please be sure to turn in your Grandparent's day form by Friday, March 6th.

There is a half day of school Friday, March 13.  There is no after school care on this day.

Look at how our friends worked together this morning!  It is such a joy to see the friends problem solving and working together.  Their social skills are growing and developing!

Puzzles help children develop spatial reasoning and problem solving skills.  These are foundational skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

Some of the friends set up their own classroom.  They wrote each friend's name on a piece of paper to identify who was at school today!  Our interest in writing and our writing skills continue to grow and develop! This is one of the goals of early childhood education.

Creating in the art center not only develops cognitive skills, but it also develops other important skills such as fine motor skills!  Strong fine motor skills are important for children to be able to small tasks such as writing and cutting!

We had a blast playing with squeaky puppets in the commons this morning!

We decided to have a tournament to help celebrate all that we have learned about Castles.  Together we made a list of items that we need for the tournament.  The children helped me sound out the words to write.  We also discussed how we were going to make the items on the list.

(We also had a discussion that we all have different gifts.  We discussed that mrs. Douglas does not have the gift of drawing, and that is okay.  :) )

During small group time, we worked to create some of the items on our list. We decided to each make a flag to hang for our tournament.

We also made invitations for others to join in our tournament fun!  This allowed the children to practice writing.

We then webbed all that we have learned about castles.  We have learned so much!  We will compare this web with our web at the beginning of the project to show how much we have learned. This provides an informal assessment of the project.

During second free choice time, the collaboration and problem solving continued!

Creating together

We also had a lot of fun playing in the castle!

The friends loved checking out the new books on CD as well!

During Jesus time we learned the story of Zaccheaus as found in Luke 19:1-10.  We learned that sometimes we make bad choices.  However, no one is too "bad" of a sinner for Jesus to love and forgive.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can tell God that we are sorry and he will forgive our sins!
