We love to take care of the dogs in our classroom.  The friends are describing how to care for the dogs with one another as well as problem solve together to share the dogs.

Some of the friends were inspired by the explore on the floor center to create!

Hunter and Bryson worked to write the names of their dogs for their dog picture.

Playing in the commons

During small group time the children were able to use a lot of technology.  In one group, they used the iPod to take pictures of their dogs. They then made signs that said, "Adopt a Dog."  We will use these pictures and signs as advertisements for the dogs available for adoption in our classroom.

We then had fun creating with wet chalk!

We then used the iPads to make videos about each dog describing why he/she should be adopted.  The children are not only using technology, but they are also developing and expanding their expressive language.  The friends are also learning how to work in a team.

Our second free choice time was busy! Many friends wanted to check-in to the dog adoption center to adopt a dog.  They are engaging in meaningful writing practice!

Other friends exercised their spatial reasoning skills by making dog houses in the blocks.

One of the techiniques we use to solve problems is using finger plays such as eeny, meeny, miny, moe to independently solve a problem.  Isaac and Victoria did just that today!

Mrs. Buchholz brought in beautiful rocks for us to explore in the sensory table.  We added water to explore the rocks further.  We problem solved together how we would fix the problem of water on the floor.  The friends decided that we are not allowed to splash or crash the rocks.  They also decided that they should dry their hands when they are done exploring.  Our class is developing strong problem solving skills!

Anabelle wanted to make an adopt a dog check in sign for our classroom. She worked hard to write the words and then hang the sign!

We moved the easel so that more friends could easily use it!

This inspired more friends to paint!

Zack worked hard to create an elaborate structure in the blocks!

Taking care of our dogs

During Jesus time we learned about all of the pain that Jesus went through when He died.  We learned that he went through all of that pain because He loves us so much!  We remembered that even though Jesus went through all of that pain and died, He did not stay dead.  He rose again!  Because of His death and resurrection, we are forgiven and saved children of God!
