Happy Friday!
The explore on the floor center is a fun way for the friends to explore, question, and write!
The friends also love to read books on CDs. These books are a great way for the children to learn to love learning! They are also learning valuable concepts of print.
We are excited to begin our learning about dogs! The friends had a lot of fun playing with the dogs and dog items this morning.
Some friends built dog houses in the block center!
We also enjoyed creating with the play dough.
Fun on the big playground
Thank you for all of the donated books from the book fair! We had a lot of fun reading the books this morning!
During small group time we finished webbing what we know about dogs. We will use the web as a basis for our learning throughout the project and compare it with the web at the end of the project to see how much we have learned. We also drew pictures of dogs. At the end of the project we will draw another picture of a dog and compare the two pictures to see how much we have learned.
We then made a dog out of play dough. We took pictures of our dog creations, and we will make another dog out of play dough at the end of the project to see how much we have learned. Furthermore, this activity provides an opportunity for the children to discuss their experiences with dogs as they create.
We estimated how many monkeys were at the end of the book entitled Count the Monkeys. In this activity the children are practicing writing as well as counting and estimating!
During second free choice many of the friends wrote cards and letters to each other. This is a great time to engage in meaningful writing practice as well as letter formation and letter/sound correlation.
Maddie worked hard to make her own book. She made a title for her book too!
Some of the friends made elaborate dog houses in the block center!
Bryson made instructions for others to re-create his dog house if they wanted.
The friends enjoyed exploring with Ms. Emma in the explore on the floor center!
During Jesus time we learned the story of the woman anointing Jesus' head and feet as found in Matthew 26:6-13. We learned that she anointed Jesus to honor Him. We can honor Jesus too because He died and rose again to save us from our sins!
