The gift making area is quite popular!  The children are engaging in creative thinking.  Because creative thinking is a higher level thinking skill it, as you know, leads to further cognitive development!

Some of our friends chose to create rockets this morning!  They made remotes for the rockets too!

We had fun exploring the corn in the sensory table today!  We, again, used the balance as we explored.  Using the balance provides an opportunity to explore math concepts such as greater, less, and equal.

The friends love our new Christmas music!

During small group time, we practiced sorting Christmas ornaments.  Sorting is a foundational math skill!

Mrs. Kuhlmann came and sorted with us too!

Then we investigated pictures of the nativity scene.  The children chose an animal to draw for our nativity scene.  They then cut out their drawing for our collaborative nativity scene.

We strengthened our visual discrimination skills as we worked to figure out what was different.  Strong visual discrimination skills lay the foundation for future reading!  The children described how they knew which one was different.  This provided an opportunity for linguistic development!

We played a Gingerbread Man game to practice positional words.  Positional words also assist linguistic development.

During Jesus time we discussed how we would feel if on our birthday everyone else received presents.  We we learned that Christmas is Jesus birthday, but yet we get all the presents. This shows us how much Jesus loves us! On His birthday, He gives us the best present of all- Jesus our Savior!  Jesus was born so that He could save us; that's why we call Him our Savior!
