Happy Friday!!

This morning we changed the estimation jar slightly.  Instead of just 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 items we added up to 7 items in the jar!

Megan's mom stopped in for some preschool fun this morning!

The friends are learning to navigate working together cooperatively.  Such skills will benefit the children throughout their lives!

Mrs. Hohener's preschool class stopped by to see all of our castle fun!

We ran outside for a short while this morning before heading to the commons.

The children have been extremely interested in knights and their role.  We decided to incorporate this interest into our Project!  The beauty of the Project Approach is that it incorporates children's interests to create meaningful learning experiences.  During small group time, we webbed what we know about knights and what we want to learn about knights. It is important to understand children's prior knowledge and experience so that we can provide experiences and opportunities to build upon that knowledge.

We also painted hats that we will use to enhance our castle play.

We explored the new characters in the mini-castle area.  We role played with the knights, jesters, and kings that are now in the castles.  This will help us as we continue to explore these people!

During free choice time, the children were inspired to create their own knight gear!  We encouraged the children to think through how they were going to use the materials to create the gear.  This helps develop problem solving skills, persistence, and allows the children an opportunity to engage in creative thinking.  Creative thinking is the highest level of thinking and promotes cognitive development.

Some friends used what they know about castles in their play in the mini castles.

All of the friends came together to help fight the dragon!

During Jesus time, we reviewed the story of Jesus blessing the children.  We were reminded that no matter what we do or how we feel, Jesus AWAYS loves us!  He loves us so much that He died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins!
