Happy Monday!  I pray that you had a restful weekend!

It was another rainy day of school, but we had a lot of fun inside!  :)

Anabelle started this morning by reading the birthday song to us!

Magnetic tiles are always a favorite morning activity! They are also a great opportunity to practice social skills!  Research suggests that there is a strong correlation between social skills and academic performance.

Some friends made invitations this morning!  This was a great opportunity to engage in meaningful writing practice!

Another popular choice during free choice time is practicing the alphabet!  Learning to recognize the letters and their sounds is a foundational literacy skill!

We had a lot of fun running and playing in the commons this morning!

During morning meeting, Maddie was our alphabet helper!  Again, as we practice the letters and their sounds, we are developing early literacy skills!

We read a book that morning entitled Raindrop, Plop!  There are so many rhyming words in the book!  The friends had fun helping identify and guess the rhyming words throughout the book.  Rhyming helps the children develop phonemic awareness.  Phonemic awareness has a strong influence reading success.

During small group time, we had fun rhyming with Ms. Emma!

We also added to our web of what we know about birthday parties.  It is so great to see how much the children have learned throughout the Project!

We explored play doh too!  This play doh smelled good!  The children had fun discussing and hypothesizing what the play doh smells like.

During second free choice, the children continued to make each other laugh with silly rhyming words!  Rhyming is fun!

Some of the friends continued to practice writing names on invitations.

Other friends baked cake together!

Even a play doh cake was made!  :)

We then went to the gym!

During Jesus time, we learned about the Israelites crossing the red sea.  We learned that sin is our enemy, and each day we fight against our own sinful desires, but Jesus defeated sin for us!  Through Baptism, our sins are washed away and we have new life!
