Happy Friday!

This morning we were able to play for a little bit in the classroom before heading outside.  We wanted to be sure to go outside before the rain came!

Phew!  We made it outside before the rain!

During small group time we read a story by Eric Carle called The Mixed-Up Chameleon.

We then took our own pictures and mixed them up!

We played the environmental print go fish game that we have been working on independently too!

With me, we played an environmental print matching game.  We also worked to finish a special surprise for our moms!

In case you missed it previously, here is more information about environmental print:

Did you know that your child can read?  When your child recognized the "golden arches" as McDonald's he/she is exhibiting pre-reading skills!  Such familiar print is called environmental print.  Environmental print is all around us! (On the cereal you eat, the label for various snacks, the logo for various stores, etc.) We played an environmental print go fish game today.  As you drive home with your child, see what signs he/she can read on the way!  I bet you will be surprised!

During second free choice time, Bailee made a beautiful butterfly!

Some of the friends worked to build a bridge over our river.

Kiera worked to balanace the blocks to make a log fire.

We pulled out some information about nature and animals to enhance our play!

Many of the friends created an elaborate play scenario surrounding an animal hunt.  They used the maps and animal track sheets to enhance their play!

Some of the friends worked to make their own maps!

During Jesus time we learned the story of Pentecost.  We learned that when Jesus' body left the earth at Ascension, He promised to send a helper- the Holy Spirit!  Because of the gift of faith through the Holy Spirit we know that we are forgiven children of God.  We will live forever in heaven with Him!
