Happy Friday!
Don't forget that our class is singing tomorrow evening here at Zion. Please drop off your child in the welcome center of the church (back of the church) at 4:50. See you then!
Many of the friends explored and created with the pattern blocks this morning! They are refining and developing foundational math skills!
Victoria's mom stayed to read a book with Victoria!
Our friends love playing in the outdoor center. The outdoor center increases dramatic play which in turn increases mature play which in turn increases cognitive development!

Creating together in the blocks
Some of the friends wanted to make a flower garden, so we worked to cut out the flowers that we made yesterday. I asked the friends how we could display the flowers. One of the friends had an idea to tape them to tubes, so we did!
Outdoor play
For our small group time, we went on a nature scavenger hunt! The friends thought of things that we could add to our outdoor center based on what we saw on our scavenger hunt!
During second free choice time Megan worked to make a bridge for our river!
The friends expanded on Megan's idea. This was a perfect opportunity to engage in collaboration!
Working together in the blocks
Many of the friends used good junk to create binoculars and other items to enhance their play. This was an opportunity to practice problem solving skills. Rather than telling the children how to create the items, we asked what they could use to make them. We continue to ask questions to help the children figure out the problem.
When children ask for help solving a problem, it is important to have them tell you what they have tried so far. This not only increases language skills and recall, but also encourages reflection.
Playing in the outdoor center
During Jesus time we learned the story of the ascension. We learned that sometimes we don't show God's love. However, because of Jesus' death and resurrection we will be able to be in heaven with Him! By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can share the love of Jesus with everyone!
