What a beautiful day!

Today Hunter was concerned about his blocks falling down, so he figured out a way to stabilize the blocks so that they would not fall over!  Great problem solving!

The writing center was busy this morning!  The writing center provides opportunities for the children to engage in meaningful writing practice.  Meaningful writing is child-initiated and important to the children.  It also is a very effective way to teach/learn handwriting skills and early literacy concepts!

Look how our friends cooperated together to create this road!  They solved problems without needing help from me, and they showed God's love to each other!

Avery and Violet had a lot of fun playing with the pictures of the friends in the block center!

Brynne and Bryson collaborated to fill the bowl with sand. Learning to cooperate and work together is an important aspect of early childhood education!

Sammie and Bella found a new use for the tablecloths!

Mrs. Buchholz had the day off today, so Mrs. Dose was helping our class!  She took half of the children outside while I worked in small groups with the other half.  This is a great time to differentiate instruction for the children!  Differentiated instruction values the abilities of each individual, and adjusts to scaffold each child's abilities.

During small groups we cut out pictures of different kinds of food. We then sorted the pictures to decide if they were healthy or not.

This promoted a discussion about the kinds of food that we like to eat.  We then decided to make a class book of our favorite foods! This was a great opportunity to practice literacy and writing skills!

Just as God created us each differently, each child's abilities are different.
Some of the children were able to write the words for the book independently.
Other children sounded out the words for their book independently.
Some children copied the words for their book.
Other children used letter like markings to represent the letters in the word.

We then continued working on our Easter cross!
