Just a reminder that we do not have school this Friday, April 18th or Monday, April 21st.

Thursday is a half day of school ending at 12:00.  Please be sure to bring a sack lunch with your child on this day as there is no school lunch.  Also, please note that there is no after care on this day either.

The dramatic play center provided a perfect opportunity for the children to engage in some meaningful writing practice this morning!  The children worked to write letters and sound out words as they took each other's orders!  What a great time to practice early literacy skills and engage in meaningful writing practice!

Some of the friends extended the practice into the writing center!

Our friends love LEGOs!  If your child is reluctant to engage in fine motor practice at home, using LEGOs is a great way to practice those fine motor skills.  It takes strength to click the pieces together and pull them apart again.  Plus, they are engaging in creative thinking!

Puzzles are a great way to practice problem solving and explore spatial relationships!

Joey loves the sand table.  He practiced comparing and measuring as he poured the sand from one container to the other.
"This box has too much sand for the cup."

Megan dressed up as Queen Elsa today!  She is making sense of the world through her play!

Many of our friends used the tubes to make towers and structures together.  The problem was they kept falling down!  We brainstormed why they were falling down and thought of some solutions.  We then tested the children's solutions to see what would work.

It is important that we encourage children to think through solutions to a problem and then encourage them as they try it out.  This is how children learn!

JJ suggested we try to fill it with toys to make it heaver.

Claire and Joey tried to stabilize the tubes with blocks.

Jacob checked the tubes to be sure that they were level so that they wouldn't fall down.

Our friends have been really interested in lower case letters, so we used this interest as the basis for one of our learning centers this week! During morning meeting, we explored upper and lower case letters further as we read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  When the friends saw a lower case letter they gave a thumbs down, and when they saw an upper case letter they gave a thumbs up!

Some of the pages had both lower case and upper case letters.  This was a problem!

Hunter found one solution to the problem.

Devereux found another solution to the problem.  Great problem solving friends!

During small groups we worked in pairs to extend and deepen our knowledge of upper and lower case letters.  The friends worked together to match upper and lower case letter eggs.

We also continued to work on our Eric Carle artwork.  Today we circles out of the green paper we painted previously.

We continued our brainstorming about where does food come from.  As we discussed, the children had many questions about farms and life on a farm.  We did some research on the computer to find more information about farms!  We wrote down our questions about farms, and we decided that we would need to investigate the answers to these questions as we learn about food!

During Jesus time, we read the book Easter is for Me.  During the story, many of the pages end with the same phrase, "Easter is for me" or "Jesus died for me."  I was so proud of our friends because each time they heard the "Easter is for me" phrase, they said "Easter is for everyone!" and "Jesus died for everyone!"

What better way to share the Gospel?  Easter is for everyone because Jesus loves everyone so much that He died on the cross and rose again to pay for all of our sins.  Thank you Jesus!
