Happy Easter!  Welcome back to school!  I pray that you had a restful Easter weekend with a chance to celebrate our risen Savior!

One of our future Bobcats, Alma's sister Mila, came to visit this morning!

Megan cooked up a storm in the kitchen!

Some of the friends worked together to create a road for the cars.  They were sad to find out that the LEGO car did not fit on their block road.  They quickly found a solution and used the matchbox cars on the road!

Our friends asked to change the sand today.  They used team work to push the sand down the hole into the bucket.

"Uh oh!  The rock is too big to fit!"
"Push it up from the bottom, and I will grab it."

"Push the sand to the hole and I will push it down."
"I will look under to be sure there is no clog!"

Great job friends!

Everyone was excited to play with the beans in the sensory table once the sand was taken out!

Some friends played in the Wiki sticks today!  What a great way to strengthen fine motor control!

Violet worked to teach her friends how to curtesy!

We also had dog school this morning!  Our friends are engaging in imaginative play which leads to further cognitive development.

We went to chapel today! Some of the student council led us in worship!

We learned that we can shine like a flashlight for Jesus.  We learned a rhyme, "Flashlight flashlight shine so bright. Shine like Jesus and His might!"  We can shine for Jesus by showing His love to others!  He loves us so much that He died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins!

As a part of our Food Project, we are investigating where food comes from.   We know that some food comes from plants, but we had some questions as to how fruit grows on trees.  We investigated this concept further today as we cut open an apple to investigate the seeds. We learned that plants, even apple trees, begin as seeds.  We expanded our vocabulary as we described the various properties of the seeds. We also had a yummy apple treat after we investigated the seeds!

Some of the friends wanted to plant the apple seeds, and some friends wanted to plant the beans from the sensory table.  We compromised by doing both!  We predicted which seed would grow faster, and we wrote our predictions on the window with a dry erase marker.

Some of the friends finished working on their Eric Carle art project!

The friends who had completed their artwork started working on their own nursery rhyme based on Mary had a Little Lamb.  The children each wrote "_______(insert child's name) had a little _______(insert animal of child's choice."  This activity not only promotes writing skills, but also helps children to engage in rhythm and rhyme- both which are foundational literacy skills.

We celebrate each child's unique success in preschool.
It is success for some of our friends to write and sound out all of the words independently.
It is success for some of the friends to write the words and sound out some words with help.
It is success for some friends to write the words.
It is success for some friends to write their name.

The children illustrated their rhyme, and we read them together.  We decided that we should turn them into a class book!

We loved playing with the parachute outside today!
