We had a great day in preschool!

Here are some end of the year reminders!

Students in PDO-2nd grade will celebrate Week of the Young Child on May 5th-9th.  During this week, we celebrate the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion!  As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this week.  These days are listed below:

Monday:  Sports Shirt Day-wear a sports shirt of their favorite team
Tuesday:  Favorite Color Day
Wednesday:  Spirit Day-Wear red or white or Zion wear
Thursday:  Stripes Day
Friday:  Mismatched Day

We have had such a fantastic year.  I am so thankful for each of your children, and I am also thankful for your support and love throughout the year!  The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.

Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park.  Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!

This morning we enjoyed playing with play doh! What a great way to express creativity, engage in conversations, and strengthen fine motor skills!

Brian, Devereux, and Andrew explored letters at the light table!

Of course we had fun in the sensory table too!

Jack, Hunter, and JJ worked to create kites in the writing center this morning!

Each morning as we sign in we practice counting, estimating, and writing.  At good-bye time we explore concepts including addition and subtraction when we check how many items were in the estimation jar.  ("We know there are ten in the jar. Let's put them in two lines.  One line of five and another line of five.  How many do we have altogether?")

Some of the friends served delicious food to one another in the kitchen area!  Yumm!

Other friends explored in the LEGOS.

Avery made a tick tock clock with the Wiki sticks!

During morning meeting we read this silly book.  We thought it was so funny that the food in the story fell from the sky!  The friends engaged in critical thinking as they asked questions about the book.

"Do they have refrigerators for all of that food?"
"What if they don't like the mustard rain?"

During small group time, we sorted food that comes from milk from other foods!

We also dictated and drew what we would like to rain down to eat, just like in the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Finally, we read together a story about Easter.  The children helped me with various print concepts including pointing to each word as I read it, helping read some words, and reminding me which way to hold the book

During Jesus time we learned about Jesus ascending into Heaven.  We learned that although we cannot see Jesus' body here on earth, He is always with us!  Isaiah 41:10 says, "fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
