Just a reminder that we do not have school this Friday, April 18th or Monday, April 21st.

Thursday is a half day of school ending at 12:00.  Please be sure to bring a sack lunch with your child on this day as there is no school lunch.  Also, please note that there is no after care on this day either.

Hunter explored properties of color and light as he created a beautiful crystal on the light table!

Some friends made cameras, and they were snapping pictures of all of the free choice fun!

Today some friends tested to see if the wheel would roll faster than the car down the ramp.  The results are inconclusive, and we decided to test it again tomorrow!

Andrew and Brian worked to build a block structure together!  What a great way to practice collaboration and cooperation!

The sensory table is one of our favorite places!  Children learn so much through sensory play!  It is also a great place for the children to practice their language skills as they converse while exploring!

Avery and Megan danced the morning away together! Dancing is a great way to refine those important large motor muscles!

Look at the purse Brynne created this morning!  Because creative thinking is a higher level thinking skill, it can lead to further cognitive development!

During morning meeting we did some role playing with puppets about the words we use with friends.  The children helped me problem solve what the puppets could do to solve the problem.  Social skills, such as problem solving in a social situation, are vital to children's success in life.

We also played an upper and lower case game.  The children stood up when they saw an upper case letter, and they sat down when they saw a lower case letters.  They also shouted the letters that they saw!  This is a great kinesthetic way to practice letter recognition!

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar this morning, and we learned that the author and illustrator of this book are the same person- Eric Carle!  We watched a short video of how Eric Carle makes the illustrations in his books.  We learned that he paints on tissue paper and the cuts the illustrations out of the paper.

During small group time, we each had a turn to be Eric Carle as we painted began the process of making our own illustrations just like Eric Carle.  First, we painted a piece of paper green!

We worked in pairs to match upper and lower case eggs.  Working collaboratively is great for all children involved.  It allows the children to practice leadership skills and learn to work together!

As we continue our Food Project, we brainstormed some places that we can find food.  (We came up with farms, trees, grocery store, and restaurants.)  We added the different foods that might be found in those places.  It is important to understand how the children currently view where food comes from in order to scaffold their understanding.

During Jesus time we read the Easter story.  We learned that Easter is important because it is when Jesus rose from the dead!  Because of Jesus' death and resurrection, we have eternal life forever in heaven!  Thank you Jesus!!
