Students in PDO-2nd grade will celebrate Week of the Young Child on May 5th-9th. During this week, we celebrate the blessing of young children, especially all of the young children here at Zion! As part of the celebration, there will be optional dress-up days this
Monday: Sports Shirt Day-wear a sports shirt of their favorite team
Tuesday: Favorite Color Day
Wednesday: Spirit Day-Wear red or white or Zion wear
Thursday: Stripes Day
Friday: Mismatched Day
We have had such a fantastic year. I am so thankful for each of your children, and I am also thankful for your support and love throughout the year! The last day of preschool is Wednesday, May 21.
Join us for "Popsicles at the Park" on Thursday, May 22 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at Laurel Park. Come and play with your preschool friends and enjoy some yummy popsicles to kick off the summer!
This morning many of the friends enjoyed exploring the properties of light at the light table. The friends discussed the various letters they saw too!
Jacob and Megan used the menus that we made to enhance their play in the kitchen!
Joey and Claire were creative in the writing center!
Did you know that we have an arcade in our preschool classroom? Until this morning, I did not know that either! :) Our friends were so creative with the stacking blocks; they made joy sticks for their very own video games! They helped each other make the sticks, and encouraged one another as they played the video games!
We love creating in the LEGOs!
Hunter worked to read books to his friends this morning too!
Today in chapel, Mr. Debrick told us the story of the woman on the road after Jesus rose from the dead. He reminded us that even though we can't see Jesus, He is always with us! Because of His love for us, Jesus died and rose again to save us!
During morning meeting we read this silly book. We thought it was so funny that the food in the story fell from the sky! This book began a discussion about our favorite foods!
Here is a snip of the conversation:
"Well I wish giant donuts would fall from the sky. I love donuts."
"I love donuts too!"
During small group time, we dictated and drew what food we would like to rain down from the sky, just like in the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
We then worked in partners as we looked through a cook book. We identified foods that we recognized from the various food groups.
"There's some cheese. Cheese is made from milk!"
"That's a tomato. Tomatoes are a vegetable."
We practiced our writing skills as we wrote and created in our journals too!
