Happy Friday!

If you are looking for a place to worship over the weekend, you are more than welcome here at Zion. We have services Saturday at 5:00 and Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00.  See you there!

We started our morning this morning by building a HUGE tower!  It was taller than me!  The children used comparative language to see other things the tower was taller/shorter than.

Sammie also worked hard to build a tower that was taller than she is.

Now that you know that your child can read, did you know that your child can also write?  Even if your child is making scribbles and adding meaning to the scribbles ("This says mommy!"), he/she is understanding the connection between spoken word and written print.  This is a fundamental concept of reading and writing!

Wow!  Look at the intricate road our friends built!  As you know, block play lays the foundation for future math learning.

We enjoyed the beautiful weather outside today!  As the children played outside with Mrs. Mudd, I worked one on one with them to assess some important skills.  Assessments are important because it allows us to see where each child is functioning, and how we can best help them to learn and grow.

We then returned to the classroom to investigate different parts of the a car together.

Children need to discover and construct their own ideas, therefore it is important to provide active, hands on learning for young children.  It is through their investigations and inquiry that children are able to learn!

We investigated brake pads, a muffler, a tire, an oil filter and much much more!

(A HUGE thank you to Bruce over at Gray's Automotive in Richmond Heights who donated all of the items you see PLUS more for us to investigate throughout the project!!!  What a blessing!  For more information on Gray's Automotive, click HERE

We discussed how we have to be so safe and gentle with the parts so we don't hurt anyone or ourselves.  :)

We also painted with our watercolors today!

During Jesus time we re-read the story of Noah and the Flood.  Every time we see a rainbow, we can remember that God keeps His promises!

Andrew brought his favorite book for us and read it to us!  Great job Andrew!
