What a beautiful Monday! I can't believe that the weather is so nice outside!
Check out what we did today!
Don't forget about the Christmas Service here at Zion in the Sanctuary on December 9th at 4:00. Our class will participate in the program. Please drop your child off by 3:45 in the church basement. There will be many people there, so I would encourage you to come early to get good seats. Preschool families will be asked to bring 1 dozen cookies for the cookie reception following the service. (peanut free of course) If you have further questions, please let me know!
Look at our new dramatic play center! A HUGE thank you to the Povich family who worked hard to build our stable. Now the children can act out the story of Jesus' birth!
We practiced recognizing numbers as we played Little Mouse Little Mouse.
We also practiced recognizing our first and last name during a fun game of freeze dance. When the music stopped, the children moved to their name tag with their first and last name on it. This activity will help the children develop as readers!
We played a "Go Letter" game where the children are matching upper and lower case letters. This activity will help the children develop as writers. It will also help the children work together and problem solve together!
We started working on our Nativity mural today as well. The children worked together to paint the sky on the mural.
We aslo created at the Free Choice center. The children are engaging in higher levels of thinking as they create!
During Jesus time, we learned the story of Jesus birth. We learned that He was born in a stable with animals. We learned that He was born to save us from our sins and take us to heaven with Him! We practiced singing our song for the Christmas program as well.
We LOVED acting out the story of Jesus' birth! The children worked together to share the costumes and space in the stable. They worked hard to problem solve and resolve their conflicts in a positive way!
We also used the Little People Nativity set to act out the story.
We became very creative with our costumes!
We practiced matching numbers and quantities through a build your own snowman game! The children 'rolled' the dice on the SMARTboard, counted the dots on the dice, then put the item with the corresponding number on the snowman. The children are practicing counting, one to one correspondence, and number recognition.
