Just a few reminders:
We will have NO SCHOOL December 24-January 2nd- Merry Christmas!
On Friday, December 21st school will have early dismissal at 12:00 p.m. There will be no hot lunch program on this day, so please be sure that your child has a packed lunch from home. Thanks!
We had a busy day today in school!
Check out what we did today!
We started the day refining our fine motor skills as we stenciled various Christmas things. (Those important muscles that control smaller actions, such as writing!)
We practiced recognizing letters as we hunted for that tricky mouse.
We love to play Little Mouse Little Mouse!
We also practiced the sounds of the letters by singing:
"The __ says ___" to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell
We worked in groups to play the memory match game. As the children play memory match, they practice memory skills, experience brain development, and improve their cognition! We also practiced working together and resolving conflicts with one another in a positive way!
We also practiced counting, one to one correspondence, and number to quantity matching as we played a number and quantity matching game.
We enjoyed expressing our creativity and exercising our fine motor skills as we drew pictures!
We headed to chapel and learned about the second candle in the advent wreath- the candle of peace! We practiced peace as we were asked to wiggle, but when we heard the word peace, we were asked to stop. We learned that Jesus was born to bring peace and save us from our sins! We are so blessed!
We practiced acting out the nativity story!
Here are some wise men.
Mary, Jesus, and a cow!
Allison read the story of the nativity to help us act it out!
Here is a shepherd and Joseph!
We worked on our Christmas trees too!
Of course, we opened the free choice center. I heard one student say, "I am going to go create" as she walked over to the free choice table. The children are creating! As we know, creativity is a higher level thinking skill.
Thank you for all of the wonderful donations for the free choice center! The children really are enjoying using them! THANK YOU!!
These boys worked together in the blocks. They practiced positive social skills as they worked together to resolve conflicts in a kind way!
Andrew worked hard to spell his name in the magnet letters. Great job Andrew!!
