Weekly Newsletter December 17-21

We will have a pretty laid back week this week in preschool.  Don't forget that school ends at 12:00 on Friday, December 21st.  There is no hot lunch program on Friday, so all children will need a lunch from home.  Also, there is no after care on Friday.  We will come back to school Thursday, January 3rd excited and ready for school! Merry Christmas!
We will continue with our Christmas word wall this week.  The children will guess what word is in the stocking after they are given a few clues.  They will then help me write the word on the word wall.  We will then put the word in the writing center for the children to practice writing.  The children are learning critical thinking skills as they guess what word is in the stocking.  They are aslo developing as readers and writers through this activity.
We will have our Christmas parties on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  We look forward to fun games, craft, and a special snack!
We will finish our top secret projects this week and complete our December writing samples.  We will also review our special word trapezoid as we work on our Christmas tangrams. As the children complete various tangrams, they are practicing visual discrimination, problem solving, and foundational math skills!
We will play various Christmas games on the SMARTboard too.  These games will help us practice sorting, counting, quantity to number matching, number recognition, and letter recognition.  These are all foundational math, reading, and writing skills.
During Jesus time, we will help to act out the Christmas story.  We will learn about the gifts that the wisemen brought to Jesus.  We will discuss what gifts we can give to Jesus too!  We will remember that Jesus was born to save us from our sins, and He loves us very much!

Looking Ahead:
