What a busy, but fun day today!!
Just a reminder that there is no school for the rest of the week as the teachers are attending a conference in Milwaukee. Have a fantastic weekend!
We loved playing with the tube ramp this morning! Andrew's dad joined in the fun too!
This morning we each voted how we should carve our pumpkin. We tracked the votes by writing our names under our choice on a graph.
We opened a new literacy center today! We practiced rhyming together in this center. Rhyming is a valuable pre-reading skill!
We then counted to see which pumpkin has more votes! We used comparative words such as less, more, and equal.
We played "Pass the Pumpkin" today too! In this plastic 'pumpkin' were various letters and numbers. The friends reached in, pulled out a 'seed,' and read which letter or number they pulled. This helps with letter and number recognition!
Today we celebrated Sammie's birthday! Happy birthday Sammie!
During small group time, we worked to sort leaves by various properties. Sorting is a foundational math skill!
We also practiced number identification, meaningful counting, and one to one correspondence as we made sets of leaves.
Then we played a rhyming game!
Of course we helped scoop out the pulp and seeds! We sorted the seeds and pulp too!
We then worked together to match the illustrations of a poem to the words. This is helping the friends to learn concepts of print and sequencing!
During Jesus time we read the Pumpkin Patch Parable. We learned that just like our pumpkin shines brightly, we can shine God's love to others. We discussed ways we can shine God's love too! Ask your child at home if he/she remembers a few ways that we can shine God's love to everyone!
