Weekly Newsletter November 12-16

We will continue in Phase Two of our Spider Project this week!  The children are very engaged in their learning!  We will also do some Thanksgiving activities this week too.
We will continue to practice counting and one to one correspondence as we sing the song, "There's a spider on my _____ (knee, elbow, etc.)"  and make the spider jump a certain number of times.
We will also vote on the spider's name this week!  We will graph the results of the vote, and the children will help to interpret the graph to see which name has more, which has less, etc.  Through this activity, the children are not only thinking mathematically, but they are also practicing counting, one to one correspondence, and learning to interpret data!
We will learn the parts of a spider as we learn the differences between spiders and bugs.  We will make a Venn diagram of the differences between spiders and bugs together.  Through this activity, the children are learning more about the world around them, thinking scientifically, and exchanging scientific ideas.
We will play a spider dice game which will continue to refine our counting skills and one to one correspondence.  We will continue to practice writing and letter recognition this week too!
We will make a book of things that we are thankful for.  Through this activity, the children are expressing creativity and learning the connection between spoken word and written print.  The children will also be able to make turkeys this week too!  The children will continue to express their creativity as they participate in a free choice painting.
During Jesus time, we will continue to learn the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho.  We will build a tower in our classroom and march around just like the story.  We will knock the tower over just like in the story.  We will also remember that with God, we can do ANYTHING!

Looking Ahead:

  • Wednesday, November 14th at 8:05 Chapel (Please note the earlier time.)
  • We will collect non-perishable food items for the St. Louis Seminary at this chapel service.  If you would like to bring in a chapel offering, you may do so Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.
  • There will be no school next week, November 19-23.  Happy Thanksgiving!
