We had a great day in school!
Please be sure to bring a hat and gloves every day for your child. Thanks!
Don't forget about the Christmas Service here at Zion in the Sanctuary on December 9th at 4:00. Our class will participate in the program. Please drop your child off by 3:45 in the church basement. There will be many people there, so I would encourage you to come early to get good seats. Preschool families will be asked to bring 1 dozen cookies for the cookie reception following the service. If you have further questions, please let me know!
Check out what we did today!
We practiced counting, one to one correspondence, number and quantity matching, and number recognition as we played our paper plate game. In this game, the children put the same amount of clothespins on the paper plate as the number on the plate.
We also worked our fine motor skills, letter recognition, and letter and letter sound correlation as we wrote Christmas cards to others!
We practiced letter recognition and writing again using special white boards. We also practiced matching upper and lower case letters. This activity helps the children develop as readers and writers!
We went to chapel and learned about Advent! We learned that Jesus is coming! Praise God!
We opened up the free choice table. Through this activity the children are expressing creativity, working their fine motor skills, and working together to share the supplies!
Speaking of supplies, we are currently collecting more items for our free choice table.
ribbon
confetti
toilet paper tubes
garland
beads
If you have any of these supplies at home and would like to bring them in to share, we would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!
The children used their creations to help decorate our classroom tree!
We also acted out the story of Jesus' birth with some fun costumes! As the children play, they are practicing communication skills and vocabulary, problem solving, and creativity.
Andrew and Brian worked together to make tall towers! They were comparing their tower heights to each other to see who was the tallest! Comparing is a foundational math skill.
We also dictated what we know about Spiders. We will compare this web to our Phase One Web to see how much the children have learned!
