Happy Friday! We had a good day in preschool!

Check out what we did!

We practiced writing in small groups.  The children are working on their fine motor skills, letter recognition, and even word recognition!

Then we played a fun pumpkin counting game that Mrs. Dose gave us!
In this game, the children are learning one to one correspondance and counting which are foundational math skills!  Thank you Mrs. Dose!

We acted out the story of David and Golaith in pairs today.

Golaith shouted, "Who is going to fight me?"

David replied, "With God, I can do ANYTHING!"

Then David put a stone in his sling, swung it around, and hit Golaith.  I think our favorite part was when Golaith fell over! The children did a great job acting it out.  Some children chose to wait to act it out during center time.

Allowing the children to take an active role in their learning enables the children to take ownership of their learning which in turn will help to create life long learners!

Some of the children worked together on various block structures.  As they are building they are problem solving, creating, and learning how to work as a team.  All of these skills will benefit children for their entire lives!

Dominic investigated the magnets in the toy trains, and Addison investigated other magnets.  They found that if they turned them a certain way, one would "push" (repel) the other.  Encourgaging child initiated investigations not only allows the children to take an active role in their learning, but also gives the children confidence!

Some of the children created at the creating table.  Allowing the children to create without any rules enables the children to use their creative thinking skills, which we know is a high level thinking skill.  As the children engage in high levels of thinking, they are opening their minds for more cognitive development!
