We had another fun day of learning!

Please be sure to bring a hat and gloves every day for your child.  Thanks!

Don't forget about the Christmas Service here at Zion in the Sanctuary on December 9th at 4:00.  Our class will participate in the program.  Please drop your child off by 3:45 in the church basement.  There will be many people there, so I would encourage you to come early to get good seats.  Preschool families will be asked to bring 1 dozen cookies for the cookie reception following the service. (peanut free of course)  If you have further questions, please let me know!

Check out what we did today!

We were able to observe two lady bugs today! (Thank you Oliver!) The children enjoyed counting the spots on the lady bug and they attempted to count the lady bug legs too! (We decided that it was too hard to see their legs.)

We practiced counting, one to one correspondence, number and quantity matching,  and number recognition as we played our paper plate game.  In this game, the children put the same amount of clothespins on the paper plate as the number on the plate.

We were able to go to the gym today too!  We enjoyed playing Mr. Fox Mr. Fox which is not only a fun running game, but it also helps the children practice counting and one to one correspondence.

During Jesus time, we learned the story of the angel visiting Mary.  We learned that Jesus came to save us from our sins, and He loves us very much! We practiced singing our song for the Christmas program too!

During center time, some of the children practiced writing!  As the children write they are developing as readers and writers!

We also had a lot of fun working together to create on the white board.  The children practicing positive social skills as they asking one another to share markers and space.  They also developed fine motor skills and creativity!

We acted out the story of Jesus' birth with some fun costumes!  As the children play, they are practicing communication skills and vocabulary, problem solving, and creativity.

Devereux worked hard on the balance.  He is developing scientific reasoning, logical thinking, and problem solving skills!

We complete our What We Know About Spiders web.  The two webs are hanging above the bulletin board in the hallway outside of our classroom.  Check out how much we have learned so far!

We opened up the free choice table.  Through this activity the children are expressing creativity, working their fine motor skills, and working together to share the supplies!

Speaking of supplies, we are currently collecting more items for our free choice table.

ribbon
confetti
toilet paper tubes
garland
beads

If you have any of these supplies at home and would like to bring them in to share, we would greatly appreciate it!  Thank you!

We used the items we created to decorate our classroom Christmas tree!

Some of the children used the unifix cubes to measure various classroom items.  Using non-standard measurements is a foundational math skill!

We played a game called Little Mouse Little Mouse.  This game allows the children to practice recognizing various shapes including square, rectangle, circle, oval, rhombus (diamond), and triangle.  The game also helps the children practice rhyme and repetition which are early reading skills!
