This week is the last week in Phase Two of our weather project. This week we will focus on answering our questions about weather/tornadoes and asking questions to guide future projects.

One of the questions we asked this morning was what equipment storm chasers need.  We started to write a list.

We weren't quite sure other things that they need, so one of the friends suggested that we look it up on the computer.  One of the great things about the Project Approach is that it equips children with the knowledge of resources around them to use to answer questions they may have.

Some friends used the new tubes to build a ramp for their cars.  They had trouble figuring out how to keep the car on the road they built...

so they decided to put blocks on either side!  What a great solution!  Problem solving, such as this, is a skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

During morning meeting, we did research together and added items to our equipment list.

We also discussed other places to find answers to questions other than the computer.  We discussed that books are one way to find information that you want to know!

After reading the story, we practiced tornado safety!

During small groups we worked to create and write in the writing center.

We painted with Mrs. Buchholz too!

We also played a game to practice counting, one to one correspondence, and quantifying which are all foundational math skills!

Each student rolled the dice, identified the number of dots on each di, and counted out stones to match the number.

God created each child unique and therefore success for each child is unique.

Success for some children is correctly using one to one correspondence.
Success for some children is identifying the numbers on the chart.
Success for some children is quantifying the dots on the dice without counting them.
Success for some children is adding the two dice together without counting them.

As teachers, we celebrate each child's individual success and help each child learn and grow to the best of their ability.

Yay!  We enjoyed playing outside today!

During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Jesus blessing the children.  We read Jesus Loves Me Jesus Loves Me to help remind the children that Jesus loves us all the time-no matt how we feel!  He will never tell us to go away!
