Happy Friday!

If you are looking for a place to worship this weekend, you are always welcome here at Zion!  We have services Saturday evening at 5:00 and Sunday morning at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00.  See you there!

Preschool is a fun place to be! This morning Megan's mom stopped in for some reading time!

Don't forget to tell your friends and family about Zion's Open House on Sunday from 1:00-3:00.  This is a great time for new families to come and see all of the wonderful things happening at Zion!

Can you believe it?!  Another tornado came today!

When children re-visit a theme for their dramatic play, they are strengthening their social and cognitive capabilities!

Don't worry-the storm chasers were on the scene checking the radar and keeping everyone safe.

"This is my Avery head!"
Avery was so happy to draw herself this morning!

We are thankful for our many wonderful aids in preschool!
Our friends love when Ms. Emma reads to us!

We also set up a center to explore the pictures and items that Mrs. Buchholz brought to show us about Taiwan.

We looked at pictures of tornados.  We discussed what we noticed.

"There's two"
"Lightning too"
"It looks scary!"

We discussed how tornados are scary sometimes, and that's why it's important we listen carefully to our moms and dads to be sure we stay safe.  We also discussed how Jesus is always with us-even when we are scared!

We also watched a short video about how tornados are formed.  We learned that tornados are sometimes called twisters.  We heard the movie talking about "big cells."  The friends wondered: "What are big cells?"  We will investigate this question more next week!

During small group time we drew pictures of tornados.  I wonder if our pictures will change the more we learn about tornados?

We worked on our Valentine's Day bags!

We also worked on breaking words into smaller phonemes-in this case syllables.

We sorted pictures by the number of syllables.

We value each child's abilities in preschool!

Success for some children is breaking the word into syllables with help.
Success for other children is clapping the word independently and counting the syllables with help.
Success for other children is clapping and counting the word independently.
Success for other children is recognizing smaller phonemes within the syllables.  (Beginning to sound out the syllables of the word).

I have faith that we will be able to go outside on a regular basis again!  Until then, we have a lot of fun during indoor recess!

During Jesus time our friend Zippy came to visit!  He didn't want to share his popsicle with his sister, became angry, and threw his popsicle on the ground.  He was sad because it broke and he couldn't eat it!  We discussed how Zippy can show God's love to his sister just like the Good Samaritan in the story.   We also discussed that Jesus forgives us!  We made a cross out of the broken popsicle sticks to remind us that Jesus loves us and He always forgives us!
