Happy Valentine's Party Day!!
We had fun passing out our Valentine's this morning!
We also had fun playing together and developing social skills during free choice! Did you know that social skills are a large factor to success in life?
During morning we sorted environmental print by the number of claps (syllables) in the name. This game incorporates valuable pre-reading skills including environmental print and phonemic awareness. It also incorporates foundation math skills including number recognition and counting!
We do many fun finger plays during the day at school!
Finger plays teach many valuable skills including language development, rhythm, and rhyme!
Today we made popcorn!
"You put some oil in the pot
and you let it get hot.
You put the seeds in
and you start to grin.
Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle, sizzle
POP!"
We had so much fun at our party! A HUGE thank you to Michelle Mahoney, Katie Sorensen, and Stacie Reardon for all of their help!! THANK YOU!!
We read Pete the Cat: Valentine's Day is Cool and The Easter Story.
Wait...the Easter story?! You read correctly! Since Valentine's day is about love, we read about the best love of all-God's love for us! God loves us so much that He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins! That is love!
During the party we made love bugs.
We also sorted and stacked hearts!
We played freeze dance too!
After the party we had some indoor recess! Even though the children (and teachers :) ) are ready to go outside, we all still have a lot of fun during indoor recess!
During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Jesus blessing the children. We played a game to help us remember that Jesus always wants us to come to Him! When I said Jesus, the children ran. When I said disciple, the children stopped. Jesus loves us all the time, and He ALWAYS wants us to go to Him!
