Happy Friday!

Don't forget to return the Grandparent's/Special Friend Day form that was sent home in your child's folder by February 28th.  Grandparent's/Special Friend day is Thursday, March 13th.  :)

If you are looking for a place to worship this weekend, you are always welcome here at Zion!  We have services Saturday evening at 5:00, and Sunday morning at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00.  See you there!

Megan's mom and dad stopped in the classroom this morning!  They measured each other with helicopters!

The magna-tiles were very popular this morning...

especially when we turned off the lights at the light table and explored the magna tiles there!

The weather crew was hard at work checking the radar.  They called the storm chasers because there were eighty tornadoes headed straight for us!

Storm chasers headed to collect information about tornadoes!

A large part of early childhood education is learning social skills such as conflict resolution.

Today we practiced conflict resolution using puppets!  The puppet friends had a problem.  They both wanted to read the same book!  We brainstormed ways they could solve the problem.  Then, each friend came and had the opportunity to guide the puppets as they resolve their conflict.  Conflict resolution is a social skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

During small group time we practiced number recognition and counting with a spinner game.

God made us all different, and we all have different gifts and abilities.  Success for children in school is also different!

Success for some children is recognizing the numbers.
Success for some children is using one to one correspondence while counting.
Success for some children is exploring addition and subtraction concepts through the game. ("I need one more to make six."  "I need three more to be equal with my friend."  "If you take two away, I would have three." etc.)

You might be thinking- "Hey my child did this yesterday!"  and you are correct!  There is value doing the same activity a few different times.  Practice is a great way to re-enforce concepts.  In addition, the children who were able to play the game yesterday had the opportunity to practice leadership skills as they explained what to do in the game.

We also practiced writing some environmental print!

We explored letters, colors, and magna-tiles at the light table.

We worked on drawing pictures of ourselves with Ms. Emma!

Wow!  Look at all of the progress made on our new addition!  There will be two kindergarten classes and five preschool classes in this new addition.  Praise God!

We had fun running and playing outside!

During Jesus time we made a machine together!  Ms. Emma pretended to be a small 'ping' at the end of the machine.  We decided that we didn't need her because she was too small!  But guess what?!  The machine didn't work without her!  We asked Ms. Emma to forgive us, and she rejoined the machine.  This is like how us!  Jesus loves all of us and we all are important to Him!  He loves us so much that He died on the cross and rose again to save us!!
