Grace Bernhardt, daughter of Mrs. Bernhardt (one of the first grade teachers here at Zion) came to observe in our class today! She hopes to be a preschool teacher someday too!
The friends were excited to see that the dramatic play area changed into a puppet theater!
Puppets are a great way to practice language skills, communication, and cooperation! These are all valuable life skills! Puppets also provide a way for children to role-play with another various situations in a non-threatening way.
We decided that our theatre needed open and closed signs! What a perfect time to engage in some meaningful writing!
We also noticed that it was getting a little crowded in the puppet theaters, so we decided to put a limit on how many friends could be in the theatre at one time. Look how our friends are practicing self-regulation!

During morning meeting the friends helped fix my patterns! I kept messing them up! Patterning is a foundational math skill!
During small group time, we painted with tea bags. Ms. Emma asked what the tea smelled like. Here are some of the responses:
"Trash"

"Sweet tea"
"Hot tea"
We worked on patterning too! As you know, each child is unique! Success for each child is unique as well! We value all success in preschool!

We also developed our writing skills as we wrote in our journals!

During Jesus time, we acted out the story of Mary and Martha. We learned that, like Mary, we should listen to Jesus and value our time with Him. He loves us so much that He died on the cross and rose again to save us from our sins!
