We are so thankful for the sun today!  What a great day to be in preschool!

We started our morning by cutting leaves out of the paper that we painted yesterday.  (We will put these leaves on the tree in our classroom.)  We are strengthening our fine motor skills and our hand eye coordination!

During our block play this morning, some of the friends encountered a problem.  Three friends all wanted a certain block.  One of the friends said, "Hey!  Let's take turns!"  The friend then proceeded to list the order of friends to have a turn a few times.  I did not intervene at all; they worked it out independently!  These are the social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives

Many of the friends chose to write books this morning.  This has been a regular choice for free play time, so we decided to incorporate it into our small group time today as well!

We loved measuring each other in our new center.  In this center the friends are working on one to one correspondence, counting, number recognition, and number to quantity matching.

They also practiced writing skills as they chose to complete a paper after they had measured each other.

During small group time, we discussed how we use a graph.  We then thought of a question that we could ask other people and graph the response.  The first group decided to ask, "Do you like books?" and the second group decided to ask, "Do you like lizards?"  The children are learning how to collect information and record it in a way that is easy to interpret.  Furthermore, they are learning social skills as they ask others the question on the graph. Not to mention all of the fine motor skills and counting that we were able to practice too!

When we returned to the classroom, we reviewed the graphs together.

We then discussed what we would need to do if we wanted to make our own graph.  The children showed me the lines I needed to make and where to write a question.  We thought of another question to ask each other on the graph to test the graph that we made.  As we made the graph, one of the friends said, "Yeah, it's easy to make a graph."

The first group asked each other ,"Are you happy or sad?"

The second group asked each other, "Do you like fall?"

We then had time to work on writing a book if we chose to do so.  The children enjoyed discussing the title and authors of their books.  "I think the title of my book is Princesses." The children are learning valuable concepts of print!

During Jesus time we played a game to help us remember the story of the Israelites in the desert.  We remember that God provides for us just like He provided for the Israelites.  The greatest thing that He provides for us is salvation through our Savior Jesus Christ!
