We love playing dog school! As the friends play in dog school, they are learning valuable social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!
What is a day in preschool without some ramp building? :)
Some of our friends used the shapes to explore spatial relationships. They also explored the various properties of the shapes!
Each day we learn review the alphabet and a concrete object to associate with the letter. Letters can be abstract for children, so attaching the letter with an object that is real to the children makes the letters more meaningful. This also helps the children learn the sounds of the letters! For example: A-A-Apple.
During morning meeting we practiced recognizing shapes as we played a fun tricky mouse game. In this game, the children close their eyes while the mouse hides in a shape 'house.' Each child has a turn guessing in which 'house' the mouse is hiding.
"Children who learn about shapes are building skills that will help them with reading, writing, and math. Learning about shapes also can help them understand other signs and symbols." (Shapes, 2013)
We also sang some songs with the guitar this morning! Music and dancing are great avenues for self-expression!
During small group time, we practiced recognizing shapes as we played BINGO with Mrs. Mudd.
We then took turns calling out a shape for our friends to find and finding it. This is another great way to practice shape recognition!
Finally, we explored circles in depth by tracing them on paper and painting them!
Because it was too wet to go outside, we enjoyed some indoor recess where we switch rooms as we like with Ms. Keane's class.
During Jesus time we reviewed the story of the bronze snake. We learned that Jesus always forgives us when we complain, when we are angry, and when we say mean words. He love us so much that He died on the cross to take away our sins so that we can be in heaven with Him!
