We will have our Valentine's parties on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. (Thank you to the Brainsby, Dose, and Linneman families for all of your hard work planning and preparing the parties!) We will hand out Valentine's in our classroom on the days of our parties. If you decide to hand out Valentine's day cards, please bring enough for everyone in the entire class. We have twenty students in the class. Please have your child write his/her name in the "From" section, and on the "To" section, please write "a friend." That makes it much easier to pass them out when they are not assigned to a certain friend! :) If you would like, you can include a small sticker, eraser, etc. to the valentine- although this is not necessary.
We will have a special Ash Wednesday chapel on Wednesday, February 13th at 8:10. Please have your child arrive at school no later than 8:00 on this day. Thank you!
There is no school Friday, February 15th (teacher in-service) and Monday, February 18th (President's day.)
We had a great day in school!
Check out what we did today!
We handed out our Valentine cards this morning. The children are even learning as they hand out their Valentines! They are practicing one to one correspondence as they place one Valentine in one bag.
We started the day by exercising our fine motor skills by cutting hearts out of construction paper. We worked together to learn how to fold the paper in half and make it into a heart. The children who could cut the hearts really well helped the other children who were struggling to cut the hearts. The children are practicing positive social skills!
We then used the hearts we cut out for our marble painting. We rolled a marble in paint, and then rolled the painted marble all over our heart. It was fun!
Some of the children built a tower with the marble structures. We counted to see how long the marble would take to hit the floor. We discovered that the marble took longer to land if it swirled around at the top first!
We had a fun party today! Thank you Kristy Dose and MIchelle Linneman for all of your hard work planning and preparing such a wonderful party!
Look at our fun Valentine hats!!
We ate yummy fruit. Look at the heart shaped watermelon in the middle!
Then we decorated cookies! Yumm!
We read a story about moms and dads giving kisses to their children before bed. We are thankful for our moms and dads too!
We engaged in creative thinking as we created a 'love bug.' They turned out really cute!
We also played a toss the pon pom into the bucket game. The children practiced showing God's love as their cheered on their friends who were tossing!
