A few reminders: 
Grandparents' Day is Thursday, March 7th.  You should have received an e-mail with information about Grandparents' Day.  You will also receive the information as a hard copy in your child's cubby.  Please return the form at the end of the information packet by Friday, March 1st so we know how many to prepare for.  Thank you so much! 

Friday, March 8th we have early dismissal at 12:00.  There is no school lunch program on this day, so please pack you child a sack lunch.  Thanks! 

We had a lot of fun today exploring maps!  Check out what we did!


We again investigated the maps this morning.  The children used the maps to navigate as they pretended to go to various places around the world.  Children learn so much through pretend play.  They are not only learning problem solving skills as they work through imaginary situations with their friends, but pretend play is one way for the children to make sense of the world around them.  As the children make sense of the world around them through pretend play, they are learning more about the world!  




Some of the friends were inspired to create their own maps!  


We created various pieces of artwork in the creating center.  As you know, the more children engage in creative thinking, the more opportunity for cognitive development! 


We practiced ABAB patterns as we made bracelets at the creating center!  Patterning is a foundational math skill!


Stephanie, Oliver, and Andrew decided to play with their cars under the table because there was no more room on the road rug.  They are learning problem solving skills!



We read a book today entitled, Me on the Map. This book helped us to understand even more about maps and how they are used!


We used straws to blow watercolor paint to make a fun collaborative art creation! The children are learning to work together to create a beautiful piece of art.  


















We used masking tape on our carpet to create our own road maps for the cars!  We will work on making safety signs for the map too!  The children had to work together to create the map.  They practiced problem solving skills as there was one roll of tape for all of the children to share.  The children did a great job sharing and showing God's love to one another as they used the tape to create.  









We used boxes and pieces of the dollhouse furniture to create a representation of our bedrooms at home.  Then, we looked at the representation of our bedrooms and drew a map of our room based on what we saw in the box.  The children are learning the steps to make a map, and they are also practicing how to create a written representation of a concrete object.
