Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a box
love in a box

Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a box
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a jar

Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a jar
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

So I'll just keep Jesus' love in my heart
love in my heart
love in my heart
So I'll just keep Jesus' love in my heart
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

Zion will also be hosting an Open House on Feb. 10th from 1-3 p.m.  This would be a great time to come in and view our Preschool/Kindergarten classrooms and talk to our school staff!  Please invite friends and family who are interested in learning more about the great things that are going on at Zion Lutheran School!

Happy Friday!

Check out what we did today!

We started making representations of the animals that we have learned about so far. We made a cat today.  We will make our own caves next week, and at the end of the Project, the children will have many animals to play with and practice whether the animal hibernates in their cave or not.  The children are expressing themselves as well as learning more about the world around them!

Because we love putting on puppet plays so much, today we discussed doing a hibernation play.  One of our favorite books to read is Sleep Big Bear Sleep by Maureen Wright.  We love the book because it is silly, yet we still learn about what bears do in the winter.  After reading the story today, we decided that we could do a play based on the book!

We brainstormed many things together.  We discussed the characters in the book, the places the bear goes in the book, and things we would need to for our play.  Through these discussions, the children have an opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas in a non-threatening environment.  Furthermore, the children are learning more about written print as we discuss the various characters, story line, and places in the book.

We then watched a part of a play that another preschool class had done based on the book The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  After we watched a little of the other children doing their play, we brainstormed things we noticed about their play that we could use to help us as we create our play.  Through this activity, the children are learning how to observe and learn from others.

During center time, the children acted out the play on their own.  One of the friends made a broom as a prop for the play.  We discussed other props we need to create our play.  The children are learning to take initiative to solve everyday problems.  This is a life long skill!
