If you have any questions about the preschool or kindergarten program, please feel free to e-mail me. Preschool programs fill up fast, so please don't delay in filling out the paperwork, especially if you want certain days!  We will open up registration to the community on Feb. 1st.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!  SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND AT 5:00 OUR CLASS AND MRS. SMITH'S CLASS WILL BE SINGING HERE AT ZION AT THE SATURDAY NIGHT SERVICE.  WE STARTED PRACTICING OUR SONG THIS WEEK.  :)

Check out what we did today!

We played a Simon Says drawing game today!  We practiced writing curvy and straight lines; this game helps the children develop stronger fine motor control and therefore stronger writing skills.

We also played a spinner math game.  The children graphed the different pictures that they spinned.  This game allows the children to practice visual discrimination which is an early reading skill.  It also allows the children to practice one to one correspondence, comparing, and counting.

We practiced our problem solving skills as we worked together to build various structures with the plastic cups!

We played a hidden counters math game today.  In this game, the children split into partners.  They each had ten counters, and hid some of the counters in their hand.  The partner counted the remaining counters on the table and estimated how many counters were in the partner's hand. This game allows the children to practice estimating, counting, and one to one correspondence.  Furthermore, it allows the children to practice working together!

We also added to our "What We Know about Hibernation" web!

Mrs. Smith's class came over and we started practicing our song for singing in church on Saturday, February 2nd at 5:00.  We will be singing "Love in a Box."  I included the words below so you can practice with your child at home.

Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a box
love in a box
love in a box
Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a box
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a jar
Love in a jar
Love in a jar
Oh you can't keep Jesus' love in a jar
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

So I'll just keep Jesus' love in my heart
love in my heart
love in my heart
So I'll just keep Jesus' love in my heart
'Cause His love will come a bubblin' through

During Jesus time, we learned the story of Jesus blessing the children.  We learned that the disciples told the children to go away, but Jesus loves the children so much that He called the children to Him.  We learned that we might feel sad sometimes, like the children in the story did when the disciples told them to go away, but no matter how we feel Jesus always loves us!

We painted with watercolor ice cubes today!  It was cold, messy, and fun!

We started working on our life time lines.  The children arranged their pictures from youngest to oldest. They taped the pictures on the time line, and we hung the time lines in the hallway.  If you have not done so, please bring in (or e-mail me) a picture of your child from each year of age.  Thank you!
