Zion Lutheran Church has a children's ministry called "Milestone Ministry."   There are four Faith Milestone topics that are covered in the ministry:  Milestone 2(How to use a Children's Bible with your toddler), Milestone 4(Prayer Life with your preschooler), Milestone 6(Worship Life with children that have started to read), and Milestone 8(How to use a Bible with children that are proficient readers).  Each Milestone is covered in a one hour class and then there is a celebration the following weekend during one of Zion's weekend services.   Sara Kuhlmann leads this ministry and would love for you and your child(ren) to attend!
There is a Milestone 4 class coming up this weekend on Sunday, April 19th.  Any child that is 4 or 5 years old is eligible to attend. The focus of this class is for 4/5 year olds and their parents to learn and practice different ways of praying together at meals, bedtime and anytime. This is a 1 week class during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:30 a.m.). This Milestone concludes with the 4/5 year olds and their parents being presented a prayer bag during the following week’s worship service. Parents will need to RSVP to Sara Kuhlmann, Director of Early Childhood at skuhlmann@zionharvester.org to attend this class.

This morning we had a lot of fun blasting off into space in the rocket that we made yesterday!

Many of the friends wanted to create with good junk! As the friends make various items with the good junk, they develop creative thinking skills.  Creative thinking skills are the highest level thinking skill and engaging in creative thinking leads to further cognitive development.

Praise God for such a beautiful day!

Outside some of the friends were discussing the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  I asked them if they have read the book.  One of the friends responded, "Mrs. Douglas!  That is a movie not a book!"  I shared with the friends that many movies started out as books.  When we returned to the classroom, I read Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs to the children.

During small group time, we took advantage of the beautiful weather to create with sidewalk chalk outside of our classroom!

We also expanded our writing skills in our journals.

We also were on a special game show called GUESS MY PATTERN.

Each friend had a turn to create a pattern, and the other friends had to guess the pattern.

During second free choice time, Riley wrote a note to her mom!  She engaged in meaningful writing practice.

Books on CD help develop pre-reading skills.

During Jesus time we continue to celebrate Easter as we review the story of what happened on the first Easter morning. We learned that because of Jesus death and resurrection we can live with Him forever in heaven!  Jesus is alive and we will live with Him forever in heaven!
