Welcome back!  I pray that you had a restful Easter break!  Jesus is risen!!

This morning we were all so excited to see each other again.  :)

Anabelle worked on a birthday card for her mom.

Joey explored the discovery bottles.

Some of the friends read books to each other! They are not only showing an interest in reading, but they are also learning valuable concepts of print!

Outside time!

During morning meeting we reviewed patterns and shapes!  Patterning is a foundational math skill.   Identifying and recognizing various shapes is also a foundational math skill.

During small group time the friends worked to sort the letters.  They made piles of letters with straight lines, letters with curvy lines, and letters that have both straight and curvy lines.  They discussed with their friends why each letter goes into the category.  They are not only practicing sorting, but they are also expanding their vocabulary and cognitive thinking skills as they explain why each letter goes in the category.

With me, the friends completed a pattern.  Some of the friends then made their own pattern!  The friends then drew their patterns on paper.

A few weeks ago we did an observational drawing of the tree outside of our classroom window.  This morning we noticed that the tree has changed since our last drawing!  We drew pictures of the changes in the tree.  Learning about time and change is an important social studies skills and meets one of the ten national social studies strand/ standards.

During Jesus time we continue to celebrate Easter as we review the story of what happened on the first Easter morning. We learned that because of Jesus death and resurrection we can live with Him forever in heaven!  Jesus is alive and we will live with Him forever in heaven!
