Our morning free choice was filled with activity this morning!

Some of the friends chose to write in their journals or make cards for family and friends.

Some of the friends enjoyed reading books!

Some friends worked collaboratively to solve puzzles.

The 6th graders came and talked to us about our chapel offerings.  They are going to help Pastor Sam spread the news of Jesus in India!

Outside time

During small group time we strengthened our knowledge of comparing.  The children worked with Mrs. Buchholz to make towers that were smaller than her tower, taller than her tower, and then equal to her tower.  Comparing is a foundational math skill.

The children also drew pictures of themselves that we will use to make a I am a Child of God mural.

We then webbed all that we have learned about dogs.

During second free choice our class was once again filled with activity.  Free choice time is a great time for children to learn!  Their interest leads to further learning.  Play also helps children make sense of the world, and expand their cognitive reasoning.

Avery used our play dough cutters as stencils.  Great problem solving Avery!

Incorporating writing into play is a natural way to expand writing skills

Using our resources to learn more about dogs

During Jesus time we read the story of Jesus cooking breakfast for His disciples as found in John 21:1-14. We learned that sometimes we forget that Jesus is caring, serving, and all powerful. He can help us when we need! However, Jesus cared enough for us to die on the cross and rise again to save us! Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can see Jesus as the Risen One who is there for our every need.
