This morning Sammie helped me pass the test to be a dog trainer like the primary caregiver for the comfort dog Noah that we met yesterday.

Many of the other friends taught their dogs the commands that we learned yesterday as well!

Some of the friends made a list of people who wanted to attend a dog show.

The dog show was a big success.

Jesus is incorporated into all aspects of our day.  Check out what some of our friends made this morning in the block center.

"A cross!  For Jesus rising from the dead!"

Exploring the rocks

Zack and Victoria worked collaboratively to complete this puzzle.  They are learning social skills that will benefit them throughout the lives!

Fun on the big playground

During small group time we made signs to remind us of the different commands we learned.  Some of the friends chose to draw a picture of the command.  Some used controlled linear scribbles to write the command.  Some friends used they letter/sound knowledge to sound out the words in the command.

We also made a cross with white crayon and painted on top of it to remind us that Easter is all about Jesus rising from the dead!

We played the game where friends hold up a card on either side of the blanket. Once the blanket it dropped, the friends on the opposite side identify the number that they see their friend holding.  The children love this game, and it is a great way to practice number recognition.

During second free choice, we again adopted the dogs in our classroom!  You will notice that the children in our class love writing; they naturally and independently incorporate it into their play.  This is one of the goals of early childhood education.  We want to encourage children's love of writing and provide many opportunities to practice writing in a meaningful way.

Delaney and Megan wore their badges to show that they are dog trainers.

One way to increase pre-reading skills with your children is to read with your children as much as possible!  Research shows that lap reading with children increases reading skills!

Our friends worked hard together in the blocks.  They were planning their play as they created together.

"Let's say that this area is for the dog show and this is for the dog house."
"Ok, but the mom and dad live in this area, right?"
"Right"

More fun outside!

During Jesus time we read the Easter story.  We remembered that the Easter bunny, candy, and toys are all fun parts of Easter, but the best part of Easter is Jesus rising from the dead! Because of His death and resurrection, we can live forever with Him!
