This morning many of the friends practiced patterning with pattern cards.  Some of the patterns were very tricky, and the friends still figured them out!

The friends continue to be successful working out conflicts and figuring out ways to collaborate in the marble run.

Sammie pretended to be a teacher during morning free choice.  She used her knowledge of print concepts and pre-reading skills to read a story to her friends.

Outside time

During small group time, we learned about still life drawings.  We learned that we draw what we see!  The children worked hard to complete a still life drawings of some of the flowers in our classroom.

They also worked as a team to organize the lego pieces from biggest to smallest.  They are comparing and ordering which are both foundational math skills.

We practiced identifying numbers and making sets too!  We compared which number was bigger and which was smaller.  We then counted out the same number of cheerios.  Success for all of the children is different, just as each child was created differently.  Success for some of the friends is using the pile of cheerios to compare the numbers.  Success for some of the friends is comparing the numbers by looking at the number.  This activity helps the children practice number recognition, comparing, counting, and one to one correspondence.

Second free choice time

The children signed up to take turns at the outdoor sensory area.

Reading

Some of the children wanted to work on more still life drawings!

During Jesus time we acted out the story of Jesus as found in John 21:1-14. We learned that sometimes we forget that Jesus is caring, serving, and all powerful. He can help us when we need! However, Jesus cared enough for us to die on the cross and rise again to save us! Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can see Jesus as the Risen One who is there for our every need.
