Outside time
During small group time, we learned about still life drawings. We learned that we draw what we see! The children worked hard to complete a still life drawings of some of the flowers in our classroom.
We also read and played along with a cheerio counting book with Ms. Emma! We practiced one to one correspondence, counting, and number recognition.
We practiced identifying numbers and making sets too! We compared which number was bigger and which was smaller. We then counted out the same number of cheerios. Success for all of the children is different, just as each child was created differently. Success for some of the friends is using the pile of cheerios to compare the numbers. Success for some of the friends is comparing the numbers by looking at the number. This activity helps the children practice number recognition, comparing, counting, and one to one correspondence.
During second free choice one of the friends thought of a word that starts with the Y sound for our alphabet. The friend asked to see a picture of a Yak in order to draw it for our alphabet!

Writing in our journals
During Jesus time we acted out the story of Jesus as found in John 21:1-14. We learned that sometimes we forget that Jesus is caring, serving, and all powerful. He can help us when we need! However, Jesus cared enough for us to die on the cross and rise again to save us! Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can see Jesus as the Risen One who is there for our every need.
