Welcome back to school!  I pray that you had a restful long weekend!

Just a reminder that school ends at 12:00 on Wednesday, November 26 and there is no school Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.

Doctor office play!

We had a lot of fun writing and creating this morning!

Creative thinking is a higher level thinking skill and it promotes cognitive development.

We then headed to the commons to play!

During morning meeting, the friends taught each other how to count to ten.  Working in partners and teaching a skill with actions helps children to use their whole brain.

This also helps the children practice one to one correspondence!

We also noticed that Brynne and Bailee had similar shoes on.  We discussed that the word similar means some things are alike and some things are different.  We discussed what was alike and different about their boots.  Through this activity, the friends are expanding their vocabulary and refining their observational skills.

During small group time, we practice recognizing numbers, counting, and one to one correspondence as we made a number line for our classroom.  The children identified a number, and then glued that many cheerios to their page.

We then wrote letters for our a new alphabet chart for our classroom!  This chart will be interactive!  If you notice letters at home with your child (on packaging, on the ride home, etc.) bring them in to add to our alphabet chart!  For example, if you eat frosted flakes at home, and your child notices that it begins with an F, you can bring in the box to add to our alphabet chart!

This will help draw attention to letters in the children's everyday surroundings.  It will also reinforce the connection between letters and their sounds.

We also played in the blocks together!

The doctor office was busy during second free choice!

The friends also continued to work collaboratively in the block center.  They are learning valuable social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!

We love to create!

Sensory explorations with the beans!

We love the listening center too!

We were so excited to watch it snow more!

Some friends wanted to continue to practice writing letters.  This child initiated opportunity to write is a great time to engage children in meaningful writing.  For more information about meaningful writing, check out this article HERE.

During Jesus time, we learned that we, like David, can praise God!  Although there are many ways to praise God, we discussed three ways that we can praise God.  Ask your child if he/she remembers the ways that we can praise God!  We praise God because He loves us so much that He send Jesus to die on the cross and rise again to save us from our sins!

We then headed to the gym to run and play!
