Just a reminder that school ends at 12:00 on Wednesday, November 26 and there is no school Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28.
The friends have been working hard to figure out the best way to make their marble go the fastest. They have been working together so well! Problem solving and persistence are skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives.
We continue to grow in our writing skills each day!
Practicing the alphabet independently is a favorite choice during morning free choice.
Doctor play
Puzzles are a great way to exercise spatial relationship skills.
The listening center is a great way to encourage the love of reading and strengthen the relationship between spoken word and written print.
Avery saw a mess in the beans, and she decided to clean it up! Way to take initiative Avery!
Fun in the commons!
During morning meeting, the friends taught each other how to count to ten. Working in partners and teaching a skill with actions helps children to use their whole brain.
This also helps the children practice one to one correspondence!
Small group time today was in smaller groups! :) The class went to the gymnastics class together in small groups. The children had a lot of fun in the class! Be sure to ask your child about it!
During small group time, we practice recognizing numbers, counting, and one to one correspondence as we made a number line for our classroom. The children identified a number, and then glued that many cheerios to their page. The friends that glued yesterday practiced recognizing other numbers, and then they practiced counting the same number of cheerios.
We then wrote letters for our a new alphabet chart for our classroom! This chart will be interactive! If you notice letters at home with your child (on packaging, on the ride home, etc.) bring them in to add to our alphabet chart! For example, if you eat frosted flakes at home, and your child notices that it begins with an F, you can bring in the box to add to our alphabet chart!
This will help draw attention to letters in the children's everyday surroundings. It will also reinforce the connection between letters and their sounds.
We also played in the blocks together!
The friends worked so hard together to create this elaborate structure! They wanted to surprise their friends who were at the gymnastics class! It is so fun to watch their friendships with one another grow!
We strengthened our fine motor skills with play doh today too!
Megan and Julia showed that they understand one to one correspondence as they set up one book on each letter spot on the carpet!
We had a lot of fun dancing to some of our favorite SMARTboard songs!
During Jesus time, we learned that we can share God's peace with other people! Just like in church when we shake hands and say, "God's peace be with you," we can share God's peace with one another by helping each other! We can also remind each other of the ultimate peace that God gives- the peace of knowing that we are saved because of Jesus death and resurrection on the cross!
