Wednesday, November 5th is Muffins for Mom.  Come and enjoy a breakfast pastry with your child in the church basement from 7:00-7:45.  You are also invited to stay for chapel at 8:10. Please plan to be on time (8:00) on this day.

Today we celebrate Julia!  We are so thankful that Julia is in our class!
Happy Birthday Julia!!

This morning, we signed in using a graph.  Young children use graphs to build mathematical reasoning. Gathering, collecting, and interpreting numerical information is a necessary skill.

Building the marble run together.  Some friends used the clip boards and drew a plan of what they were going to build.  This promotes cognitive development!

Doctor play

We love the listening center!

We love to create in the art center too!

Brynne and Julia collaborated to complete a puzzle!

We had fun with the obstacle course in the commons.

During morning meeting we practiced our language and reading skills with a new poem.

One, Two, Three
Apples on a Tree
One for _____
One for _____
and one for me!

The children helped me read each other's name tags in the poem.  This poem helps the children recognize that language has rhythm and rhyme.  It also helps pre-reading skills as the children read each other's names!

The friends then played in Mrs. Helmkamp's classroom!

Back in our room, we continued to work on our individual books that we started last week.  We worked to put our books online using a website Little Bird Tales.  Unfortunately, the website was running quite slow, so we added the finishing touches to our paper books.

When bookmaking with the children learn to:
Talk with others about the kind of illustrations the book needs.
Compose even before they can write
Convey meaning over several pages
Communicate meaning through illustrations
Work at a project for a time, building stamina as writers
Create an enjoyable and lasting product to be used in our classroom

As you know, God created each child unique, and therefore success for each child is unique.  Success for some children is creating illustrations to reflect the spoken words.  Success for some children is creating a story with a beginning, middle, and end with no help.  Success for some children is creating a story with some guidance.

We celebrate all success in preschool, and we work to help each child achieve the next level of personal success.

Writing the words to each child's books.  The children dictated the entire book.  Look for the finished product coming soon!

We also worked on drawing the members in our family for a family graph we will make later in the week.

We explored the beans too!

During Jesus time we read the story of Gideon and his army.  We learned that twice God told Gideon to make his army smaller.  God helped Gideon's army win the battle. In fact, God is the reason that Gideon's army won the battle.  God has also won the battle for us!  He conquered sin, death, and the devil when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross and rise again!
