Happy Friday!
A HUGE thank you to Zion's PTL for our new magna tiles! These magnetic tiles are a great way for children to explore shapes, create three dimensional shapes, practice problem solving, and refine spatial relationship skills!
Another huge thank you to the Linneman and Mudd families for donating keyboards for our news center!
We worked this morning to ensure that the keyboards were clean and ready to go. The children are learning responsibility as they help to keep our classroom clean.
We then set up the meteorologist station for friends to check maps and predict the weather.
During small group time we made cloud art!
We also continued to explore the magna tiles!
We then hypothesized what clouds do.
During small group time we made our own clouds with shaving cream and water. We made the clouds rain and snow by adding food coloring to the clouds.
We made observations about the clouds as we watched the color drip into the water. We noticed that the cloud did not fall down. We then looked out the window to notice that the clouds in the sky don't fall down even though rain and snow do fall down from the clouds.
We asked questions about clouds after we made observations.
"Why don't the clouds fall down?"
"Why don't the clouds fall down?"
"How can the clouds do different things (rain, snow, etc.)?"
"Why does the water sink out of the cloud?"
We will use these questions to help guide our learning throughout the Weather Project.
Encouraging children's curiosity and providing an opportunity to take an active role in the learning process helps to foster the love of learning!
Because it was too cold to go outside, we did some of our favorite SMARTboard songs!
We then had a guitar dance party with Mrs. Mudd's class!
We also had fun during indoor recess!
During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Jesus raising Jairus' daughter from the dead. We learned that Jesus has power over sin, death, and the devil. We demonstrated this power by writing sin, death, and the devil on bags; we each took a turn to pop the bag. Each time we shouted, "Jesus has the power over death!" Because of His death and resurrection, we do not have to fear death because we know that we will be in heaven with Jesus!
